Central Ohio Water Polo, (COWP)
is a non-profit 501 (c) (3)
organization and was established in
April of 2002 promote the amateur
sport of water polo. COWP is
designed to benefit youth of all
abilities and is operated in
accordance with the standards and
under the rules prescribed by FINA
and,
USAWP. COWP is a United
States Water Polo member club
(#1699) of the Midwest Zone (#3).
Central
Ohio Water Polo is a year-round
USAWP club program and is open to
any individual who wants to learn
about the sport of water polo,
develop new skills, or improve their
current skill level. Our goals
are to establish a fun, supportive
and positive environment where
players at all levels can strengthen
their skills and enjoy competition
on a local, regional and national
basis.
The
club program is offered on a
seasonal basis. Our spring
season is organized to address the
needs of the participants and may
include instructional practices from
the fundamentals of the game to
strategy and execution, strength and
conditioning, scrimmages and
tournament play. Our winter
season includes participation in the
Midwest Zone team tryouts.
The current participants with
Central Ohio Water Polo come
predominantly from the
Worthington/Columbus area including
Thomas Worthington H. S.,
Worthington Kilbourne H.S., Bishop
Hartley, Dublin, and Upper Arlington
schools. It should be noted
that COWP is a “club” program and is
therefore, open to any individual
wishing to participate in the
program.
Practice is usually held at the
Thomas Worthington High School
Natatorium, 300 West
Dublin/Granville Road, Worthington,
