Mike
de Bear is a social studies
teacher at Thomas Worthington High
School, and is currently working
on his master’s at Ashland
University. He joined with Geoff
Gear to start Central Ohio Water
Polo in the Spring of 2002 in an
effort to increase the awareness
of the sport of Water Polo.
A
club player at the college level,
and a high school water polo
player and swimmer at Thomas
Worthington High School, Mike
joined the coaching staff at
Worthington High Schools as an
Assistant Coach to Geoff Gear in
2001. Mike quickly moved forward
to become the Women’s Water Polo
Varsity Coach in 2002 and has been
leading both the Cardinals and
Wolves ever since.
Mike
has lead Kilbourne to Regional
Championships in 2002, 2003, and
2004, as well as state runner-up
finishes in 2003 and 2004..
Additionally, Mike also led the
Thomas Worthington women's team to
a regional championship in 2005.
Mike
is also the head boys and girls
swim coach at
Dublin
Scioto
High
School
and Northwest Swim Club.
Previous experience
includes assisting the Worthington
High School swim programs,
Brookside and Tartan Fields
Country Clubs.
